MEETING LEKAN FACE TO FACE
My first contact with Lekan was in the office of the
Commander ,RRS ,ACP Tunji Disu.He was already seated with his friends Sunday Nwaobi and Gbenga Sholuki after four days of intensive negotiation for him to surrender when i walked in.
As I walked in, silence fell on everyone..I
exchanged pleasantry with everyone.I saw a guy who is looking tired, worn out
..It’s obvious his world has crashed on his head.
He was shaking his head
intermittently..His words were not too audible, but he kept on saying ,I didn’t
kill her,I didn’t kill.He instantly recognized me..
”I know you CKN,I know you but you won’t remember me.I
met you long time ago, when you were the Artiste and Promotions Manager of SONY
MUSIC.I have been to your office at Adeniyi Jones Ikeja”.
The statement disarmed me ,I was confused but what has
to be done ,has to be done.
Inorder to get the best out of him, I needed to get
closer to him, it seems his whole world has collapsed on his feet, he has
become an orphan overnight, he is now a leper which no one wants to touch.
Even his siblings have all deserted him.
In my presence , he called his younger brother to come
over, but the young man gave one excuse
or the order on why he couldn’t make it even with assurances from those of us
there.
All have deserted him.
And the interview began,I told Lekan pointblank to tell
me the truth and nothing but the truth.I believe ,it will be good for the world
to hear his own side of the story since all that have been written so far was
based on assumption and hearsay.
CKN is the only journalist to have interviewed him one
on one since the incident happened.
The first question I asked him was a pointblank
question..”Lekan,say the truth, did you kill your wife”.He looked me straight in
the eyes, head bent ,with a low voice that has seen so much anguished and said
an emphatic NO…No,CKN,I did not kill her,God is my witness”.I didn’t know
whether to believe him or not.
The interview continued.
CKN:Tell me exactly what happened on the day your wife
died?
Lekan:Before that day,e have been having issues.Since
my wife lost her former job (as a banker),I have been the one taking care of
all her needs including the up keep of our two children.
On the day in question,we had some issues (CKN interjected,to
ask what the issues were).
Before then ,I suddenly noticed some months back that
my wife has suddenly changed after she started working for a Packaging company
in Lagos (name withheld). She suddenly comes back very late. She goes to work
from Monday to Sundays. She hardly prepare food for us (my kids and i).
Even with her current job,I still take care of her.I
have two cars parked in the house,I don’t drive, she is the one that drives the
two cars..All my finances were under her care..Even my ATM cards are with
her,she draws money from them as she likes.
I hired a Nanny in the house that
takes care of our domestic needs ,I pay the nanny N20,000 monthly.I have been
doing my job as a responsible man but I don’t know why my wife suddenly
changed.
(I tried to bring him back to the question, what
happened on the day of the incident,I repeated).
CKN,as I said earlier on,before that day,my wife told
me that she was travelling to Abuja on a business trip on behalf of her company
and that she ll be off for four days.Well, what choice did I have?..I allowed
her.She left me with the two Children, age 6 and four.I have to combine my job
with that of taking care of them.
I even gave her N20, 000 to support her trip .While in
Abuja we spoke quite often .I noticed that one of the days while she was away, my
son spoke to her once and the boy said daddy, there is a man talking with mummy in
the room (this was late in the night) but I just took it as one of those kids
talk.
A day to her return,a friend called to ask me if I was
aware that my wife traveled to Abuja with her boss (name withheld) and they
they lodged in the same room.I was shocked CKN,my wife never told me she was
traveling with him, talkless of sharing room with him for four days.I kept my
cool,but was highly worried.
On her return,I came back earlier than usual, opened the
door with my spare key, walked into the house ,she was not aware that I was
back,I overheard her speaking on the phone (with her GM,name withheld) ranting
away ,”I really enjoyed all our love making ,my whole private part is now
paining me from all your bangings,I can’t wait for us to have a repeat of the
action, you are the best my love”.
While she was saying all that ,I walked into the room
and she was shocked.I then asked her,is that what you travelled to do in Abuja
and you left me with two kids in the house for four good days. Why didn’t you
tell me Ronke, that you were traveling with your boss. She knelt down and started
begging me.
I,interjected again,did you beat her?,I asked,No,I didn’t
beat her CKN ,he was staring on the floor as he answered me.
I urged him to continue.I decided to call the man in
question ,to ask him why he went away with my wife and he was begging me..He
begged you? ,I asked, yes he did Chris.
Before then, some weeks back according to him,on a certain
Sunday, they were to attend Church service ,but my wife said ,she was not
feeling well and won’t be able to attend.
I decided to take Okada to Church
since I don’t drive. The Church was about five minutes drive from the house.
During service,I realized that I left my tithe and
offering envelope in the house and decided to go and pick it.
Alas,who did I meet in my house,my wife’s boss.She was
already getting dressed to go out with him,the same person that told me earlier
on that she was not feeling well.I didn’t read any meaning into that,I picked
up the envelope and went back to the Church.
CKN,do you know my wife starved me of sex, under the
disguise of being tired everytime..For months ,I go without sex but am sure she
was having it with her boss (he mentioned his name again).
Before this man eventually came into the picture,we had
a perfect home..
While she was out of job,a gave her N1,500 daily apart from her
monthly allowance.I make sure she lacks nothing.I buy her everything including
the pants she wear.
There is no day I went without coming back with provisions
and food items.She lacked nothing.
Once again I asked him, Lekan what happened on the day
your wife died?.
WAIT
FOR THE CONCLUDING PART OF THIS TERRIBLE LOVE STORY OF LOVE AND HATE.

Wow! CKN on point. Waiting on part two of this interview. The world needs to hear it all.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe a word he says I know their type
ReplyDeleteCKN, Great exclusive!
ReplyDeleteCould U pls change the red background of this page. Makes reading harsh to the eyes.
I don't believe a word of this man's interview. You saw a man you suspect to be dating your wife in your house and you walked away, you could control your anger and walk away? And the same person could not walk away from killing his wife? Story, story! Storyyyy! Biko, tell that to the marines.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is obviously complicit in the wife's death. A lesson for violent men and cheating wives. Your husband finding out you are cheating can lead to a slap and a slap can result in death.
DeleteI was married to a man like him until April 2016 when we were both divorced. They are very heartless n got a talent cooking up stories. Sometimes, when my ex husband would cook up a story, even me his wife that really know that what he is saying is a big lie, will be tempted to believe his lies. How many Nigerian men could condole a woman's infidelity??? U suspected ur wife, you also caught her, as if that was not enough, she apologize proving she was guilty, hmmm lekan abeg talk another story, na u good pass for this word, u love her so much n yet u killed. Honestly men like don't deserve to live.
ReplyDeleteWhy not just complete the story. Why make your readers wait? Nonsense!
ReplyDeleteNa Wao this mans predicament don turn to Hollywood movie.
ReplyDeleteMay her soul rest in peace
ReplyDeleteMr Man,check their website, they have published the full story..Mumu like you
ReplyDeleteA crime is a crime, irrespective of motive. It is only the reason behind it that determines the punitive consequences. The reason is probably needed for archive purposes from the opinionated (AKA the public, psychologists and psychiatrists). But a deed has clearly been done so who is to blame is it the man who can't control or the woman who provoked. If he did commit the act, he has to face the consequences, irrespective of motive. Acts like these are becoming too rampant, most based on 'economy' which is not an excuse. Are we saying 'egos' can't be controlled
