This is the concluding part of the exclusive interview CKN Showbiz had with alleged killer of his wife in Lagos,Lekan Shonde

For the 3^rd time, I asked Lekan to tell me what happened on the day of the incident.

He narrated his story thus:

On the day of the incident, prior to the morning, I had earlier given my wife N100, 000 for keeps. 

I asked her to give our nanny N20, 000 (her monthly salary).I later asked her to deposit another N30, 000 with the teachers of my children.

When next I asked for the balance (now sounding a bit incoherent), she told me she has spent another N20, 000 out of the money. I asked why she spent the money, why didn’t she go and collect the money from her lover (boss).

And what happened after that I asked again..Nothing happened, I just stroke my hands around her face (probably slapped her).

I left her at that.

In the morning, I dressed up to go to work..I normally leave for work at about 5am daily since I work in Apapa..When I came out, I saw her lying on the couch (a three sitter).

I felt she was sleeping and didn’t bother to wake her up..I went away with my key and asked our son (6 year old) to padlock the door from inside.

It was while I was at work that the nanny called me that they have been trying to ask my wife to open the door but without any response .

I asked them to break the door open if she is not responding.

Prior to this, my wife have been showing sign of not feeling fine. More like depression .I asked what could be responsible for that..(He became incoherent again).

She told me that her uncle has promised to give her N1, 300,000 to buy a car of her own..Later she told me that the uncle said he ll only give her N1, 000,000 and I promised augment it with N300, 000.But since then,the uncle has not given her the money

Since then, she has been depressed .My wife stopped cooking for us. I did all the cooking. I don’t even ask her to wash my cloths; I did all a man should be able to do for his wife.

Lekan what happened after you learnt about the demise of your wife?..I repeated

They called me when they opened the door and told me my wife was dead and I asked, dead ke,how possible?.

When you were told she was dead, did you go back home to find out what happened?, I asked .

Looking worried now and obviously in pain,he said he was on his way home when he called for an update and was told that there were police everywhere (I asked him, who told him, but I couldn’t get an answer).

Based on this, I was scared he continued .I called my father to tell him what happened and he told me that was terrible news and that I should go and sort it out.

I had to stay away from the house and scene since then.

I asked him, where he went to thereafter, but i couldn’t get a firm answer.

Have you been having issues apart from those you have just narrated asked again, he said no.

 

At this point, he told me he contemplated committing suicide several times.

Asked if he has contacted the family of his wife and he said Yes.Infact according to him, he still spoke to his mother inlaw few hours before we conducted the interview.

 

He told me that his wife’s family have had their share of misfortunes in the past one year.

According to him,the wife is the third sibling of her mum that have died in the past one year.

Looking me straight in the eyes again,he asked, CKN if I hated my wife that much,how come her family members lived with them.

CKN,at a point I had ten people lived with us,eight of them were my wife’s family members.

The problem with my wife started immediately she started dating her boss (Name withheld, he told me his name , the name of the company).

You need to see the type of micro mini dress she wore to the office,after he started dating this man.

I did not kill her. I regret the fact that she is dead. Those that know me will tell you CKN,that I am not a violent person. I just don’t know how she died, it could be spiritual.

I read that she was six months pregnant, how come? ..Is not possible, except she was pregnant without my knowledge..

Few days before her death, she saw her menstruation, so how could she have been pregnant .Even at that, we have not had sex for a long time.I also know that recently she engaged in dry fasting, so I don’t know if it contributed to that.

I told him, that doctors will definitely conduct a post mortem (autopsy on her ) and if he has any objection to that, she said no.

It was at this point that efforts were made to get a lawyer to defend him..His friends tried to call some lawyers if they could help..The negotiation was still ongoing.

I had wanted to ask Lekan, several other questions, but obviously the time was not on our side, since the RRS were so eager to hand him over to the Commissioner of Police who had requested for him to be moved to the Police headquarter.

On arrival at the Lagos Police Command, he was marched to the office of the Police Commissioner.

After some chat,the Commissioner handed him over to the head of homicide ,Panti (a female) who took him into custody and marched to an awaiting room.

Curiously, despite Lekan’s defence,CKN realized that the phone of his late wife was in his possession.

I realized this at the police headquarters..If Lekan had no hand in the death of his wife, how come her phone was in his possession?

What was he doing with her phone, could be this be the reason for the final showdown.

At what point did he collect it from her, since he didn’t go back home as he alleged after hearing about her death, does it mean that he forcefully or deliberately collected the phone from her and took it along to work and for what  purpose?.

These are questions begging for answers..

Lekan, has given a partial analysis of what happened, but the woman involved is dead. She is lying cold in a morgue; she does not have a RIGHT OF REPLY as we say in Journalism.

But we cannot judge since we were not eye witnesses, the children that were eye witnesses are too young to even narrate what happened.

The rest is now left for the police to extract the truth from him, he ll also have his day in court..How long this may take, no one can say.

This is a big lesson for everyone, if the relationship is not working; take a leave so as to live to tell the story.

As to whether I believed in what he said. It’s not within me to believe him or not..The facts will be unraveled by the police and the court .
